We have assembled the defusable clock. Looks to be correct. But it doesn’t work. We can’t figure out why it doesn’t work. We are using a 120 V 60Hz 12W 9VDC 500mA plug. No lights, no noise, nothing. We don’t know where to begin to try to fix it. My son received it as a birthday gift and spent 4 hours soldering and assembling. He is quite disappointed, so if we could get it to work, that would be great. :'(

Sorry to hear you’re having problems. Have you gone through the Troubleshooting Guide? [url]http://nootropicdesign.com/defusableclock/build/#troubleshooting

Do you have a multimeter to test connections, etc?

Please feel free to send clear photographs of the front and back of the board to support@nootropicdesign.com. I can take a look and possibly help diagnose the problem.

Just closing out this thread. The soldering was very bad, and this was the cause of the malfunction. Short circuits everywhere.

There’s probably a bit of excess solder shorting against a tiny bit of exposed copper around a pad. Sometimes copper can be exposed if the solder mask is burned away during soldering. This problem can often be fixed with a little work. Good luck and tell us your results!
