    I have a digit shield I am going to use in a remote mounting that will not be coupled to any sort of arduino board directly. The display is on hinges and wires will run to the board. Which connections besides 2-5 will I need to power the display? I will probably also add RST so I can reset from outside the case. I tried to decipher it from your board diagrams, but I’m not a chips person so I am not sure where the shield draws its power from. Is 5v and a ground sufficient?

    I am using it with a digilent max32 (I needed a lot more I/O), which I have working nicely when it’s plugged on the board.

    Yes, you need to run 5V, GND, and pins 2-5. And the reset line if you want that capability.

    I’m completely shocked that it is working on a Max32, as the digital outputs are only 3.3V on that board, and the Digit Shield requires 5V logic levels….!!

    Thanks, that worked. Getting the library to work took me a while in hacking through the max32 to get an interrupt timer routine working. Unfortunately the mods I made to the library broke with newer versions of their ide, so I am just sticking with the ide I have that works.

    I am building an irrigation controller for my greenhouse, I needed a lot more I/O so I used the max. I didn’t spend any time looking at board level specs and voltage requirements, so I was totally ignorant of those details. Perhaps to my benefit in hindsight, as I might have never tried. 😉

    Here’s a picture of the digit shield working with just the 6 required wires on the max32.

    Hey, nice job! So few people have the skills to hack around with the timer routines, etc.
