    Hey guys,

Does anyone know if it is within the capability of the Video Experimenter + Arduino to perform ANPR/LNPR tasks?

The demo video suggests that it can identify a letter on a piece of paper, so taking that principle one step further, could it identify a string of letters/numbers on a passing vehicles’ index plate? (Given the correct angle and frame size of course).

I suspect the answer is no, but it’d be great to get some opinions or first hand experience from a user.

    Cheers

The edge detection demo (in which the edges of an ‘A’ are detected) does not identify the letter as an A. It just finds the outline. Finding the edges of an image is not the same as identifying the image.

The ATmega328 microcontroller is not nearly powerful enough to perform computer vision tasks like shape recognition.

I thought it was too good to be true.

    Thanks for your input.

No need for anymore posts I guess!
