    Hi there,

I bought the audio hacker and DJshield a while back (pre-built) for use in a costume (for the real time voice changer) but I’ve never been able to get any output from it, . I’ve installed the required sketch onto my Uno with confirmation that it’s been loaded successfully, everything is connected and have fiddled with the volume and the gain but the most I’ve been able to do is get static clicks when pressing the buttons on the shield, I’ve had a look through the FAQ and help topics along with several youtube vids too but haven’t been able to find a solution.

I’m guessing it’s down to the mic/speaker/amp I’m trying but I’ve tried multiple and haven’t had any joy, the most recent being a SHIDU M600 Mini Voice Amplifier off Amazon which came with a portable amp & headset, both work for their intended use, but nothing comes through when put through the hacker.
Am I just being dense or will these types of mic & speaker set ups not work, if so, do you have any recommendations on which one to use?
    Many thanks in advance.

First get the voice changer project working without using a microphone. Use the output of a computer and turn the volume up so the signal is strong. Have you tried this?

As for microphones, they are usually *powered* by the amplifier they plug into. The Audio Hacker does not provide power to a microphone and the input was not designed to be for a microphone. It is possible to connect a microphone if you also provide power for it. See this project: https://nootropicdesign.com/projectlab/2013/07/05/electret-microphone-audio-hacker/

Sorry if this is disappointing, but everyone seems to be trying to use this in costumes with 3rd party microphones and it’s not designed for that.
