"HC" is inserted into closed captioning

I’m decoding closed captioning successfully but i’m getting the characters “HC” frequently. They’re showing up between lines and sometimes embedded in words.

I’m assuming it’s not an alignment issue because I’m getting complete words. It just must be something in the signal.

Has anyone seen this behavior before or know what it could be?

Problem solved with very minor adjustment to the small potentiometer.

Data is clean as a whistle now.

That’s great. This method of decoding CC is really quite a hack and it’s amazing it can work at all, so small adjustments can be necessary. The data is not always clean, and it is sometimes found on different lines depending on the source.
